Hear or Sing a Song as Old as Our Building

Yes! In 1923, our church building was dedicated, and Pauls Valley had a beautiful new First Presbyterian Church. In the same year, one of the masterworks of church choral anthems was written by Martin Edward Fallas Shaw, an English composer, conductor, and theater producer. For one hundred years, With A Voice of Singing, has been one of the most popular and frequently sung anthems in churches of all denominations. Music publishers usually stop publishing an anthem when a piece diminishes in popularity. Rarely does an anthem remain in print for over a couple of decades. This anthem is still in print because of its timelines, energy, and popularity. The anthem is not in our church library, so it is time to sing this masterpiece in one of our services.

With a voice of singing, declare ye this, and let it be heard, Alleluia.

Utter it even unto the ends of the earth.

The Lord hath delivered his people, Alleluia.

O be joyful in God, all ye lands, O sing praises to the honor of his name, make his praise to be glorious.

Plan to attend church on October 8 to hear it. If you would like to join us in singing this masterpiece of choral repertoire, come to rehearsal on Wednesday, October 6, at 6:00 pm.

Soli Deo Gloria,

--Jack
