I am always looking for talent. Young and old alike have musical talents that they may not recognize. In many cases, teachers have told students that they do not have musical talent. I remember a teacher telling me that I should give up on music. Get a job as an architect! For a long time, this haunted me. Being told by a teacher that I needed to get out of music impacted me negatively. But, being the stubborn person that I am, I found good teachers who would help me. They nurtured my abilities and all of a sudden, I find myself decades later enjoying a multifaceted career in music and administration.
One of my joys in life is discovering talent in people, regardless of their age. I believe that everyone can sing. In many cases, they have been told that they can't sing. I never believe it.
Please help me locate talents hidden in our congregation and our community. Let's show people the joy and excitement that comes from making music to praise God.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Jack
