How lucky we are to have a pipe organ. Congregations sing much better when supported with the sound of an organ. The overtones in the organ sound support and enhance singing. How sad that many churches today are abandoning the organ for electronic keyboards. The quality of congregational singing declines when this happens.
Our organ has not had significant repairs in many years. There are ranks of pipes that do not play; numerous pipes need repair. The console needs a new music rack and lights.
The Session approved phase one of repairs which began the day after Easter. Most of the repairs in phase one will not be noticed by the congregation. We expect to be able to use the organ during most of the repairs. And of course, we have a gorgeous piano available. Thanks to the Session for seeing the value of the organ to our church and for authorizing repairs.
