Remember to wear something, anything red to church on Pentecost Sunday. It can be a red dress, shirt, scarf or even socks. It is the only day in the liturgical colors are red.
Why wear red? For Christians, Pentecost is the 50th day after Easter. It celebrates the red "tongues of fire" resting on each apostle as they each spoke a language not their own. They told of the coming of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised before his death. This is also the birthday of the church as 3000 people were baptized on that day. We welcome all to wear red and join us is worship for this special happening in the history of the church.
